David Michael Harman

 

AIKEN, S.C. – Mr. David Michael Harman, 55, of Aiken, SC, beloved husband of Sherrie Beam Harman and son of Mary O’Donnell ‘Dixie’ Harman, Aiken, SC and the late Harold Harman, died Thursday, April 23rd, 2009. Born in Wythe- ville, VA, he had been an area resident all of his life. David was a 1971 graduate of Aiken High School and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force.

At the time of his death, David had been employed by Wackenhut for over twenty-five years as a Dog Handler. David had a passion for Dog Handling and in 1996 he and his dog Rocky were awarded National Dog Handler and Dog of the year. He attended Millbrook Baptist Church. Prior to his health declining, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and coaching and umpiring little league baseball. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his children, Aimee Marie Harman, Aiken, SC, Melissa Welsh, Olanta, SC, Amanda Chauvin, Chapin, SC, and Michael Sedavic, U.S.A.F; sister, Brenda Leigh Smith, Simpsonville, SC; and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be held today at 1 o’clock at Hatcher Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Langley, SC, with Pastor Roland Smith officiating, Interment with veterans honors accorded by the United States Air Force Honor Guard will follow in the veterans section of Southlawn Cemetery, Aiken, SC. Pallbearers will be Neal Cushman, Greg Darr, Michael Smith, Wayne Davis, Jim Budd, and Darrell Wicker.
