Steve Stapleton

AIKEN, SC – STEPHEN WAYNE STAPLETON, 69, passed away Sunday, May 23, 2021 in Springfield, MO.

A native and life-long resident of Aiken, Stephen was a son of the late James H., Sr. and Aileen Humphries Stapleton.  He was a retired salesman and worked in the parts department of several car dealerships in the Aiken area.  He loved to dance and especially enjoyed line dancing until his health no longer allowed him to do so.  He was a former member of Shiloh Baptist Church.

Surviving are his three children, Robin Russell (Chip), Lexington, Cheryl Spillman (Matthew), Springfield, MO, Brandon Stapleton, Aiken; ten grandchildren, Kylie St. Germaine, Misty St. Germaine, Bryan St. Germain, C. J. Russell, Adalynn Russell, Ashton Russell, Bobby Hilton, Kayla Hilton, Dameon Townsend, Kinson Spillman; three siblings, Joe Littlejohn (Linda), Union, SC, Jimmy Stapleton (Emma), Leesville, SC, Candy Hayes (Bobby), Aiken.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, David Stapleton.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening, May 27^th from 6 until 8 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held Friday morning, May 28^th at 11 o’clock at the funeral home with The Rev. Marion Britton officiating.  Interment will follow in Aiken Memorial Gardens.  Pallbearers will be Kyle Hayes, Jason Stapleton, Joel Stapleton, Jamie Stapleton, Lewis Mitchell, Mike Mitchell and Dale Mitchell.
