Aiken Man Dies After Falling From Pick-Up

Marvin Bruce Moore, 19, of 143 Sharyn Lane, Aiken, died Sunday at an Augusta Hospital as a result of injuries sus­tained in a fall from the rear of a pick-up truck in Waynes­boro, Ga. Saturday.

According to reports the youth had ridden to a job site in Waynesboro to pickup some other youths after work when the accident occurred.

Mr Moore was a native of Aiken. He was a graduate of Aiken High. He was a member of Clearwater Branch Baptist Church.  Marvin was employed by Stewart Builders.

Surviving are: his moth­er and step-father. Mr. and Mrs David Gregory of Aiken; father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth F. Moore, North Augusta; one sister, Mrs. Malinda Santomauro, Aiken; two half-sisters. Miss Gloria Moore, Miss Donna Moore, both of North Augusta; one brother. Gifford Moore, Hampton. one step-sis­ter. Mrs. Rita Day, Aiken; four half-brothers, Lewis Gre­gory. Aiken, Michael Moore, Steadman Moore. Glenn Moore, all of North Augusta; maternal grandmother. Mrs Marie Poole, Aiken; paternal grand­mother Mrs. Pat Wightman.  Charleston; and paternal grandfather, RD. Moore of Charleston.

Pallbearers will be David Seigler, Jimmy Randall, Randy Weeks, Johnnie Moseley, Tom Tyler, and Keith Weeks. Mike Cornwell, Mike Day,  Jerry Tindall, Monroe McCall, Mar­tin Gunter, and Blewitt Gunter.

Odom Funeral

Miss Mable Odom, 17, died Monday at the University Hospital in Augusta.

She was a native of Aiken County, the daughter of Mrs. Lucille Odom and the late David Odom, and a rising senior at Aiken High School.

Funeral plans will be announced later by Miller Funeral Home in Aiken.

Other survivors include, five sisters, Mrs. Doretha Floyd of New Ellenton, Mrs. Aletha Moody of Augusta, Miss Ethel Odom of Hempstead, N. Y., Mrs. Ella Walker of Augusta, and Mrs. Louise Weaver of Hempstead; seven brothers, Alfomia Odom, David Odom, Leroy Odom, and Usey Odom all of New Ellenton, Mack Odom of Hempstead, Ernest Odom of Washington, D. C., and James Odom of Hempstead.

Friends may call at the residence of Mrs Lucille Odom, White Pond Road RFD I, Aiken,  or at the funeral home.

On February 23, 1888, the Aiken Institute was incorporated by an act of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina. The school opened its doors as a high school on September 17, 1888.
