
A native of Darlington, SC, Lenny was a son of the late Leonard Clayton and Faye Bass Atkinson. He was a former maintenance supervisor and was a member of Corinth Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and usher.

Survivors, in addition to his wife Sherri, include two daughters, Staci Atkinson White, Hartsville, SC, Shyanne Atkinson, Aiken; a son, Lee Christopher Atkinson (Keeley), Aiken; three grandchildren, Kayin Fox, Kimber Atkinson, Landen Atkinson; a sister, Judy Lewis Ward, North Augusta, SC; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Connie and Steve Jeffreys, Killeen, TX and his beloved dogs, Paisley and Sissy.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday afternoon, December 20th at 4 o’clock at Corinth Baptist Church in New Ellenton with The Rev. Mike Bell officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Corinth Baptist Church, 805 South Main St., New Ellenton, SC 29809.

In addition to his parents, James R. Gibbons and Gladys B. Gibbons, Artie is survived by his wife of 42 years, Kay Warneke Gibbons; two sons, Scott Gibbons (Shayna), of Minot, ND and Matt Gibbons (Anna), North Myrtle Beach, SC; a sister, Jackie Wilkinson (Sam); four brothers, Dick Gibbons, David Gibbons (Adena), Pat Gibbons (Teresa), Ken Gibbons (Amy); and five grandchildren, Cayden, Aleah, Cayley, Bryce and John Thomas Gibbons.
