A native of Darlington, SC, Lenny was a son of the late Leonard Clayton and Faye Bass Atkinson. He was a former maintenance supervisor and was a member of Corinth Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and usher.

Survivors, in addition to his wife Sherri, include two daughters, Staci Atkinson White, Hartsville, SC, Shyanne Atkinson, Aiken; a son, Lee Christopher Atkinson (Keeley), Aiken; three grandchildren, Kayin Fox, Kimber Atkinson, Landen Atkinson; a sister, Judy Lewis Ward, North Augusta, SC; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Connie and Steve Jeffreys, Killeen, TX and his beloved dogs, Paisley and Sissy.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday afternoon, December 20th at 4 o’clock at Corinth Baptist Church in New Ellenton with The Rev. Mike Bell officiating.

Obituary for Mr. John Arthur Gibbons

AIKEN, SC – Mr. John Arthur “Artie” Gibbons age, 63, entered into rest on Sunday, December 11, 2016 peacefully at his residence.

Artie, as he was affectionately known as, was born September 17, 1953 in Charleston, SC to James and Gladys Gibbons. He has been a resident of Aiken, SC for sixty years and was of the Baptist faith. Artie will be remembered for the love he had for his friends, family, and especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, James R. Gibbons and Gladys B. Gibbons, Artie is survived by his wife of 42 years, Kay Warneke Gibbons; two sons, Scott Gibbons (Shayna), of Minot, ND and Matt Gibbons (Anna), North Myrtle Beach, SC; a sister, Jackie Wilkinson (Sam); four brothers, Dick Gibbons, David Gibbons (Adena), Pat Gibbons (Teresa), Ken Gibbons (Amy); and five grandchildren, Cayden, Aleah, Cayley, Bryce and John Thomas Gibbons.

Julie Gibson passed away on November 17, 2016 in Columbia, SC due to cancer.  She was 62.

Julie was born on December 17, 1953 in Augusta, GA to Robert and Jane (Norton) Olcott.  She and William R. Gibson were married on January 10, 1981.  She recently retired from Central Electric Co-op after a career as an Office Manager.  For over 40 years her other career was as a talented organist at several churches.

From an early age, Julie had a love for animals, especially horses.  She enjoyed horseback riding for many years and volunteered as a judge at regional competitions.  To the surprise of her friends and family she became an avid fan of PBR Bull Riding.  In her spare time she created many beautiful cross stitch items and loved to give them as gifts.  Other hobbies included shopping, decorating, and watching college football.  Julie was always on the search for the perfect hamburger.

Julie is survived by her sister, Laura (James) Poole of Ohio; her sister-in-law, Sarah (Robert) Ricker of Columbia; close friend, Dayna Epting; and several nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her husband, William.
