Lynn F. Surasky
DULUTH, Ga. – Lynn Fraser Surasky died Tuesday, Aug. 9, 1994, at University Hospital, Atlanta. Mrs. Surasky was 41.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at A.S. Turner and Sons Funeral Services.
A native of Aiken, Mrs. Surasky was a medical secretary.
Survivors include her father, Denson Fraser, Decatur, Ga.; and a brother, Denny Fraser Jr., Hilton Head.
A.S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home, Decatur, is in charge of arrangements.
James was born October 3, 1951 and died November 14, 1993
Ricky Laffoday was born July 10, 1953 and died January 22, 1991.
AUGUSTA – Richard Earl (Ricky) Laffoday died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 1991, at the Medical College of Georgia Hospital.
Mr. Laffoday, 37, resided at 1902 Flintwood Drive.
Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. Friday in the Poteet Funeral Home West Chapel. The Rev. Neal Phelps will officiate. Burial will be in Westover Memorial Park.
A native of Aiken, Mr. Laffoday was an employee of Owens-Corning Fiberglas Co. He was a member of the Teamsters Local Union.
Surviving are his widow, Kathryn B. Laffoday, Augusta; her mother and stepfather, Darlene S. Sumner and Charles F. Sumner, Graniteville; a sister, Cynthia Ann Anderson, Augusta; and a brother, Donald Ralph Laffoday Jr., Tucson, Arizona.
Poteet Funeral Home West Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
John Dew was born February 12, 1953 and died in a car accident October 20, 1989.
He is buried in Columbia SC.

Collision Claims 2 On U.S. 1

A head-on collision on US. 1 north of Aiken claimed the lives of two men Friday afternoon. The accident, which occurred around 3:15 p.m. 2 miles from Aiken, killed Billy Paul Finley, 55, Chesterfield St., Aiken, and John Wesley Dew, 36, West Columbia, said Aiken County Coroner Sue Townsend.
Finley was traveling south on U.S. I in his 1981 Chevrolet Citation and Dew was traveling north in his 1985 Ford Ltd. when one of the cars crossed the center line on a curve south of the Aiken Municipal Airport, said Sgt. Julian Thigpen of the South Carolina Highway Patrol. Sgt. Thigpen declined to reveal which motorist was at fault until the investigation is completed.
“ I do not suspect alcohol was involved,” Mrs. Townsend said.
The accident, which destroyed both cars, tied up afternoon traffic on the roadway for over two hours,Sgt. Thigpen said. The jaws-of-life had to by used by firemen to pry the two bodies from the tangled wreckage. Wreckers were called in to clear the road for motorists.
Despite the destruction of Friday’s crash, Sgt. Thigpen said that the curve does not have a history offatal accidents. He said that a fatal accident has not occurred on that section of the road for the past 27 years.
